Harpers Ferry, WV-Moderate hike paired with a visit to a vineyard with mountain view.
You'll soak in history as well as great views of Harpers Ferry and the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
The Maryland Heights trail is a moderate 5.3-mile loop hike offering a historical experience as you make your way through multiple Civil War forts overlooking the Harpers Ferry area. After a trek up to the ridgeline that will certainly get your heart rate up, your efforts are rewarded with two impressive viewpoints of Harpers Ferry and the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Please note, the way down the mountain can be tough on the knees, so if you have knee problems, hiking poles or a sturdy walking stick are recommended.
After the hike, we will head to Big Cork Vineyards, a winery nestled among the Blue Ridge Mountains, just a short drive from the Appalachian Trail. You'll sample a delicious selection of wine while enjoying the vineyards and surrounding mountain views.
